UAE Announces Exit from OPEC and OPEC+ Starting 2026

(MENAFN) The United Arab Emirates has announced that it will withdraw from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) as well as the OPEC+ alliance, according to state media reports.

The decision is set to take effect on May 1, 2026, as reported by the official Emirati News Agency (WAM) on Tuesday.

Authorities described the move as part of a broader long-term strategic and economic direction aimed at reshaping the country’s energy sector and aligning it with future development goals.

Officials also emphasized that the decision reflects the UAE’s intention to maintain its position as a stable and dependable energy supplier in global markets, while adapting to evolving conditions in the global energy landscape.
